Post-MEC
I haven't really decided what a "status" update would look like. So I'm winging it for this one. :-)
Books:
- Fantasy & Science Fiction - May 2002 Okay so I'm late getting around to reading this one. Excellent couple of stories at the end, too.
- Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. What a great read. How the hell did this guy survive to tell any of this?
Music:
- Still working on The Scarlet Cape. I'm concerned that I'm playing the tango bit too fast. This is the risk when you don't own a metronome. :-) I'm comfortable enough with the piece now to start reading the damn instructions. I'm really curious about what they want exactly with some of these... Hmmm, I think I need to sit down with Chris at some point and hammer out a few bars and see how it goes.
- Haven't touched Sun Goes Down since I got the principle themes transcribed into lilypond. I've been fiddling around with one of the alternate melody lines I put in. It's only a few bars, but I think it shows promise. There's a couple of other spots in the piece that need this kind of work. Now I'm feeling the lyric needs rework. Too many of the rhymes are simple repetition. And some of images are straight up clumsy. Didn't think I'd be doing so much rework. :-)
- Still fiddling with that little piece in G. No name or notional lyric idea yet.
- Haven't touched The Entertainer for far too long. Heck, I tried hammering out Baby Grand the other day and was damn rusty.
Movies:
Nothing lately. Oh, yeah, reminds me. Need to send note out to group that Movie Night is going to be the *next* Monday (not holiday Monday). Better make sure we don't have a draw over the weekend either.
Games:
Well, apparently Neverwinter Nights came out this week. Haven't gone shopping for it...yet! :-) I really need to sit down and make some progress in Baldur's Gate II.
TV:
Yeah, right. Who are we kidding here?

Do we get to hear "Sun Goes Down" sometime? *hopeful look*

Truth to tell, you've heard earlier versions of it (with and without vocals) already. I played it one New Years Eve when we were network gaming at your place and C kept being contrary and saying no before I could actually ask to play on his keyboard. It was one of, oh, 5 or 6 things I think I threw out when I went upstairs. Not a new piece, this one.
I quite like the piano part. It's probably the most lyrical piano part I've written. Which is why coming up with a voice part has been a complete bitch. In the first place, there's no way I could possibly sing what I'm playing with my creaky voice. In the second place...boring!
