Late last year, I plowed through all this author's previous books.  Well worth it, too.  This book is also very good.  I'd say more, but several people on my flist haven't read it yet.  I have a few nitpicks, but I'll leave them be for now.

Honestly, I think he's doing some of the best and most interesting hard SF I've read in quite a while. So, yeah, a new fan. :-)

And he's an astronomer too! I actually used to work with his last boss.

I think purplejavatroll met him at the Eastercon she came to in 2001, and I've bumped into him a couple of times since.
