So, pjt and I went out to Ikea last night and mostly looked at furniture (our real agenda was to pick up more shelving for the wine rack). She mostly has me convinced we should try out one of the "bunk" beds they've got there with the bottom converted to a sitting or storage space. The first one we saw, like two years ago or more, looked awfully rickety to me, but I'm definitely being swayed. I like the cosy feel of the space underneath. And heck, I used a bunk bed for years when I was a kid (I suppose most families with more than 3 kids get that experience). We went to Revy afterwards, too, which is very conveniently across the street.

I always feel a little disoriented when we do this, although not in a bad way. More like, if I could just prioritize the things around the house we should do from the can do from the want to do and work out what we will do, then the experience would be more productive and I would be a better participant in it. :-)

And going to Revy makes me think about the yard, which makes me think about the fence and sometimes the trees and that always makes me think about the squirrels and how we should charge rent or evict 'em. The fence is a hard one and I think I'm going to have to break down and call someone in. Expensive, but necessary in this case. I don't think I have the first clue how I would go about digging out the hole that was used for the one busted off post and getting it and all the associated, unformed concrete out of the way. We can't really move the fence out one fence post width, and we can't move it in (paved driveway in the way) the same distance. And don't even think about moving it over. And anyway, how far would you have to adjust things in order to avoid the mess of concrete that's down there?

On the farm I'd just move it out or over and who cares really? But the city places limits on how much you can annoy your neighbors, I guess. Heck on the farm, I could probably take one of the tractors with a loader and rip the damn post up, concrete and all. Funny. I haven't lived on a farm for, what, almost 20 years now, but some of my instincts about how to solve problems still start there.

And I wonder if I'll have the same issue with all the posts on the fence, not just the ones on the alley.

And what about those damn squirrels!

Picture of someone slightly manic with obsessive tendencies. Who me? :-)

I *love* those Ikea adult bunk beds. I actually had a moment of being sad that my room was so big, because I couldn't justify getting one. I still might. :-)

I have to admit I think they're cute and kinda cosy...and I think the cats would love one. :-) It's mostly the idea of, hmmm, harmonic motion catastrophically upsetting the structural integrity of the bed that concerns me.

It's a long way to fall if you're in the middle of something.

We can make sure that we get extra struts on the sides! And, if we chop the legs a bit, it won't seem so bad, I suspect.
