No, really.

Hello,

I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003.
Upon arriving here my dimensional warp generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. Since nobody in this timeline seems to be able to deliver what I need (safely here to me), I will have to build a simple time travel circuit to get where I need myself. While it might be hard to find parts in this time to build anything decent, I need easy to follow schematics from the future to build one which is safe and accurate that will not disrupt the time space continuum with both forward and backward capability accounting for temporal location settings (X, Y, Z, n), which can be built out of (readily available) parts here in 2003. Please email me any plans you have. I will pay good money for anything you send me I can use. Or if you have a dimensional warp generator available, and are 100% certain you have a (safe secure) means of delivering it to me please also reply with a secure way to contact you. Send a separate email to me at:
[snipped]

Do not reply back directly to this email as it will only be bounced back to you.

Thank You
Brian Appel

It is amusing, but it seems to be doing that annoying extended width thing in my Friends view - can you flexify or cut?

Doing a bit of aikido genealogy, I found 'your' dojo web site, so I've got a better idea of 'our' relationship now :-)

On the aikido front, my study of ukemi seems to be stuck at the 'prat-fall' stage :-( Had to have remedial backward-fall lessons from sensei after training last night! Apropos of the current vote on the Aikiweb site, we only spend about 5 mins each class explicitly and only practising rolling, and the dojo is shared with sweaty Thai kick-boxers who won't clear out until 2 mins before aikido training is due to start, and sensible D won't let me practise ukemi on my own... most vexatious!

Sorry, I only had time for the most minimal of "formatting" if you can call it that. So, I used "<pre>" tags to preserve some line formatting. Should be fixed now. (Oh, and didn't escape the brackets back there and junked my response. Sorry.)

As far as ukemi, I don't think there's any magic bullet I could lend you electronically. It is sucky that so little time is provided, especially before class. But finding people to work with who can help you out during class is probably as important or more so.

My rolls without a partner are still not where my rolls with a partner are at. It's hard because you're providing all the energy and impetus yourself. Don't even worry about technique maybe but just work on being uke.

Thanks!

We did more ukemi last week, including practising techniques in beginners class specifically to work on 'being uke'. Unfortunately, I'm not fit to train this week :-( But I did reach a stage last week where I forgot to tense up as I attacked my nage - weird, scary feeling of 'uncontrolled' falling, except of course it wasn't uncontrolled, just relaxed. It kinda felt good...
