This is mostly from memory with aids from the TorCon3 site schedule.

purplejavatroll and I boarded a WestJet flight with what I suspect were a sizable number of other WorldCon attendees (you could hear people talking about the con in the boarding lineup). We had an entirely uneventful flight and boarded the sarcastically named "Airport Express" bus that visits a number of downtown hotels. This was followed by a complete and shudderingly labyrinthine tour of the access routes to the other two terminals that make up Pearson International. Highlights of the trip included considerable discussion by the couple behind us of other WorldCons, the dangers of Canadian beef ("Don't eat any raw beef, that's my advice." -- actual quote), shuttle disasters, and current security practices at airports.

We arrived at the hotel, checked in, and went up to our room to find purplecthulhu in residence. Hello's were said and some water of life was displayed to renew my courage.

I had arranged in advance to attend an aikido class at Shugyo Dojo with a friend from Aikido-L. I missed catching a ride with him to the dojo, but his advice for the street car that goes by was excellent and I arrived in time to watch the last 30 minutes of the beginner's class.

I changed for the advanced class and had a good time. The dojo is quite small, but has excellent mats and a friendly atmosphere. P, my friend from the list, asked another guest from a different style to show a technique to the class and then surprised me by asking me to do the same. I don't believe I did a very good job of showing the technique, though.

After class I headed back to the hotel where pjt and I headed down to the local pub so I could get a bite to eat. They had an actual piano player in attendance, with an indifferent voice, and our waiter was taking turns at the mike, with a much better voice.
