purplejavatroll  got me a copy of this book for my birthday, and given some very positive (if not entirely disinterested) reviews, I picked it up as soon as I could.  Personally, I felt this was a lot better than The Chronoliths.  I don't know if I'd rave about this the way the reviewer does, but I liked it.  The end for sure kept me up last night past my bedtime, which doesn't happen all the time.

I'll admit I had trouble getting into Light at first, but eventually it engaged me and I really enjoyed it. It's been a while, so I don't have anything specific to point to in support of my case. :-)

However, I think if you felt that The Chronoliths was close to being good, then you'll probably enjoy the new book. There's a few common things in terms of storytelling between the two, but I felt like he managed the last third of this book much better.
