purplejavatroll got me a copy of this book for my birthday, and given some very positive (if not entirely disinterested)
reviews, I picked it up as soon as I could. Personally, I felt this was a lot better than
The Chronoliths. I don't know if I'd rave about this the way the reviewer does, but I liked it. The end for sure kept me up last night past my bedtime, which doesn't happen all the time.

Date: 2006-03-08 09:38 pm (UTC)I've been contemplating picking up another of his books. The Chronoliths was so close to being good! This thread/post on Elizabeth Bear's journal combined with the Making Light post you linked (and now, your own recommendation) make me think it's about time.
Of course, everyone raved about Light, and I did not like it, so my hopes are low.
I'm reading Mating, finally. It's pretty wild.

I'm reading a book, too
Date: 2006-03-09 01:55 am (UTC)This week I'm reading another book about the history of Siberia, and it's full of all the same stuff.
I must go there, one of these days. My mother and her one of her boyfriends du jour went a while ago, but they came back in one piece.
