purplejavatroll  got me a copy of this book for my birthday, and given some very positive (if not entirely disinterested) reviews, I picked it up as soon as I could.  Personally, I felt this was a lot better than The Chronoliths.  I don't know if I'd rave about this the way the reviewer does, but I liked it.  The end for sure kept me up last night past my bedtime, which doesn't happen all the time.

I'm reading a book, too

I read a book a few years ago, about the history of Siberia. It was full of beheadings and dismemberings and drownings and floggings and burnings and impalings and sodomy and disembowelment and things like that.

This week I'm reading another book about the history of Siberia, and it's full of all the same stuff.

I must go there, one of these days. My mother and her one of her boyfriends du jour went a while ago, but they came back in one piece.
